Delfi Partners & Co. Advisory Practice is proud to join the project team of Partners from EU countries to develop, test and transfer a fishing tourism business model in the coastal territories of the MED region as a way to promote a sustainable approach to tourism, while fostering the preservation of the marine ecosystem and traditional fishing culture. The 10 international associations are Delfi Partners & Company (Cyprus), Prism Promozione Internazionale Sicilia-Mondo (Italy), Promimpresa srl (Italy), University of Piraeus (Greece), Cyprus University of Technology, Bashkia Durres – Durres Municipality (Albania) CCIFM – Italian Chamber of Commerce of Marseille (France), Petra Patrimonia CORSICA (France), Haliéus (Italy), Feports-CV – Port Institute for Studies and Cooperation (Spagna). The lead partner in charge of the management of the project is the Municipality of Trabia (Italy), where part of the pilot testing of the business model – dedicated to fishermen and tourism industry operators – will take place.

All these countries share the common challenge of finding new solutions for the worrying depletion of marine resources, the decline of the artisanal fishing sector and the negative impacts of tourism such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage and ecological degradation. As a response, the project objective is to promote fishing tourism as a sustainable coastal and maritime tourism practice in the MED area, with a total budget of 2.1 million euros.

The initiative is a great opportunity to bring together diverse institutions and organisations from across the EU, working together to address the challenges of local communities, while confronting the worrying depletion of marine resources, the decline of the artisanal fishing sector as well as the negative impacts of tourism, such as social dislocation, loss of cultural heritage and ecological degradation.
